• We will be launching a new main world this summer at some point. We’ll be able to give a specific date as summer gets closer. 
• The current main world will be available in adventure mode for everyone. VIP’s and up will be able to use creative mode in the current world as a perk.
• Everyone will be able to bring over one single chest to the new world.
• We are doing this because the current world is over a year old and is full of clutter/abandoned projects.
• We will be having a new world update schedule where we will have a main world and a survival world. Each spring the main world will be updated, and each fall the survival world will be updated.
• We will keep the previous main world, and the previous survival world on the server even after we launch the new worlds.
• When the new worlds are replaced with even newer worlds the previous worlds will be removed from the server and put up for download.
• For example six months from now there will be the new main (spring2013) world and the current main world (spring2012) on the server. In a year when we launch another new main world (spring2014) the new world (spring2013) will be up in adventure mode while the current main world (spring2012) will go up for download.
• There will always be two main worlds and two survival worlds on the server.
• We also put together a gallery showing the progress of the new world.

As a lot of you probably already know we have a new world in the works. Iâ??d like to clarify a few things and then ask you all for your opinions.

First of all the server was updated to Minecraft 1.5 a couple of weeks ago. The majority of our plugins have had updated versions released, and the others seem to be working well with the update. Right after the update the server had a few bugs, but we have worked them out. If you have any issues with 1.5 please let us know so that we can fix them.

We are creating a new world simply because over time Minecraft worlds tend to get filled with abandoned and unfinished projects. People trying to find new places to build in the current world have to go through thousands of blocks of used land until they can find a place that they can call their home. It is also important to know that with each new version of Minecraft there are usually new items that you can find in the world. Those items donâ??t show up in the already explored part of the world, so it might be hard to find something like an emerald or quartz without doing a lot of exploring.

The majority of servers out there create new worlds quite frequently for those same sorts of reasons. At Red Hallow our plan is to launch this new world later this spring once we have a good spawn created. Weâ??ll keep you updated on the progress in this thread.

You might be wondering how this new world will work. Will I lose all of my items? Will I be able to bring things over? What will happen to the old world? Those are all questions that I need to answer. So here is how the update will work:

When the new world is finished it will be set as the main world for everyone. Everyone will be able to build just like they could in the old world. Donators have all of the same commands like creative mode just like they used to in the current world. Since a lot of you might not like losing all of your items and creations we will be keeping the existing world on the server so that everyone can continue to see it. To promote people using the new world everyone in the old world will be set to adventure mode except people with the VIP rank, they will be able to use creative mode just like they have been able to in the past.

We have also been working on a way to allow everyone to bring some of their items over to the new world. One of or players, CooltasticCreeper, actually came up with the idea for an arc where everyone can fill a single chest with items that they would like to bring over to the new world. When the new world goes public you will be able to go back to the arc in the new world and get a head start with your new buildings with the items that you chose to bring over.

Now that you know about our transition to a new world I would like to let you know on how we plan to roll out new worlds in the future. Basically I plan to have a new primary/creative world launch each spring, right after a major release of Minecraft if at all possible. We will also have a new secondary/survival world that will launch each fall, right after a major release of Minecraft if at all possible. We plan to have a maximum of four worlds on the server at any given time to prevent lag. So we will keep the current primary and secondary worlds as well as the previous primary and secondary worlds on the server. So in another year when we create a new world in the spring of 2014 the current primary world will be removed completely, and the world for this year will be set to adventure mode. Once a world is completely removed from the server we plan on putting it up for download so that you all can still use it on your computer in single player mode. Note: We will only have the nether/end available for the current primary/secondary worlds, the older ones wonâ??t be available for players.

So that is essentially how we plan to roll out our new world. If you have any questions please let us know and we can get back to you.

We are also looking for ideas for things that you would like to be added to the new worldâ??s spawn. Right now we plan on having the essentials like the spawn building, a transporter, a wall, a warhub, some shops, and then another wall surrounding the area where donators can build. If you would like to see anything added to the spawn area let us know. We are also interested in seeing if any of you would like to help build parts of the new spawn.

Since the update to Minecraft 1.5 is pretty significant it might be a little while until there is an updated version of Bukkit that we can install onto our server. If you update to Minecraft 1.5 today you won’t be able to get back onto Red Hallow until we update. So I’d recommend keeping a backup of the current Minecraft 1.4.7 jar before you update.

We aren’t sure when exactly we will be able to update the server. Given the significance of the update it could be a few weeks before there is a stable version of Bukkit available, and maybe a little bit longer for all of our plugins to be updated as well. We will be sure to update this post with the latest information regarding the update.

Update: Last night I was able to successfully get the server updated to Minecraft 1.5.1! All of the plugins seem to be working fine, but if you experience any problems just let us know.

Their names are Bradley “Moosiciskool” and Brandon “ATB_BFF”. Both players have been playing on Red Hallow for quite some time now so they have a good feel for the community and how Red Hallow works.

The Tournament

On Saturday, February 16th, 2013 at 1:00 PM CST (GMT -6) we will be holding the first Red Hallow PVP Tournament. If you would like to know what time that is where you live then check this out.

During the event the community members of Red Hallow will fight to the death in our PVP arena. To keep this fair we aren’t allowing staff members to play, and we will not allow any hacking or cheating. You must also leave where you spawn and start fighting as soon as the fight begins.

If you’re wondering how the fighting will go then here is a quick example of what will happen if we have sixteen players. Basically we will start out with eight matches where one person fights another person. When the losers exit the arena the winners will fight four more fights. That will then lead to two fights, and then the final one-to-one fight where we determine the winner.

Joining Us

In order to fight in the first Red Hallow PVP Tournament you must post an application in our forums. Check out our forums for more information on that. We’re doing this so that we know how many people will be attending, and so that we can better setup the matches so that they are as fair as possible.

The Prizes

As usual we will be awarding donator ranks to the winners of this PVP Tournament. They are as follows. For more information on the donation ranks please check out our donation page.

In case you are curious the judges for the fights will be Mullraugh (Kyle), MasterRyan7, and Aj. To keep things fair we have a staff member, a donator, and a copper for a judge.

• The first place winner will get a $10 donation (Silver).
• The second place winner will get a $5 donation (Iron).

This time around we are looking for some moderators that can be deeply involved with the community. They may need to do the following.

• Moderating chat and other behavior
• Help resolve disputes with players
• Help plan and be a part of future events
• Being friendly and helpful to all players
• Daily check of staff email
• Ability to be on the server regularly

In order to apply you must already meet these criteria.

• Must have donated to Red Hallow, no Coppers
• Good standing with other users
• No previous grief on Red Hallow
• Regular visitor to the server

Since July 2011, when Levi Campbell and I started Red Hallow, we had a vision to create a Minecraft server focused on the community, and allow all users a safe and fun place to be. The last 18+ months have been full of fun and even a few trials, but the community time and time again  has steped up and been amazing. To have been given the opportunity to call you my Minecraft friends has been amazing.

But there are times where lives change, and mine is no different. From July 2011 to now, I got a new job, got engaged, move to full time at that job, got married, and am on track to get my college degree in just a few short months.  That is why, today I am writing to inform you all that I am stepping down as owner of Red Hallow.  It is time for Levi and I to hand off the server for someone else to run.

Today I am happy to announce that William Quade (williamquade) is the new owner and manager of Red Hallow. He will be leading our team of amazing people to continue to develop Red Hallow as we see it today. I plan to still stop by from time to time, but any day to day operations can be handled by William and the team. I will not be a part of the staff, and will just be a “member.”

There will be a short transition period as I work with William to pass on all the information he needs to continue this journey. I pray that you will be understanding of William as it may be bumpy for a little while.

Aside from myself, John McKnight (hrhjh), our very first member, has joined the Air Force and is full time in that. He has stepped down as staff member affective immediately.

It has been my honor to work with you all over the past 18 months, and I hope that you continue to stick with Red Hallow.
